1996
Cassie did us proud in'96 showing she has brains (keeps them well hidden) as well as beauty! Having gained many firsts places and a sprinkling of Best of Breeds in the show ring at the same time gaining The Whinnyhowe Trophy for coming joint runner-up in Obedience contest.
Bob was not left in the shade, he also has had numerous firsts places at Championship and Open Shows, as well as Best Puppy in Breed, Reserve Best Dog in Breed and Best Opposite Sex! Not bad for being just 16months old.
Bob like Cassie has a liking for Obedience, though you would not believe it to see him on a lead! A definite slow to settle boy, bless him!
1997
Bob has spent most of this year on the hills with Jim but when in the ring was constantly on the cards.
This was a busy year for Cassie in February she gave birth to her first litter of six bouncing Beardie puppies. Then continued her winning ways with Best of Breed's at Open, Exemption Shows as well as winning Obedience Classes.
Cassie was really pleased at her offspring's, Ben on qualifying for Crufts many times over, gaining Reserve Best Puppy in Show at Beardie Collie Club of Scotland Champ. Show. He also has to his credit many firsts, Best Puppy in Breed & Best puppy in Show.
Slanjavah Mhairi's Nigheon (Vari) owned by Mr & Mrs. J. M. Mathieson, on also qualifying for Crufts and her success in the ring.
Slanjavah Fruach (Jo Jo) owned by Mr & Mrs. McIntosh for getting into the finals of Pet Smart's "Happy Pet".
Cassie and Hamish are well pleased, as are we.
1998
This was Ben's year went Best Puppy in Breed at Manchester Champ. Show. Then went on to win his Junior Warrant in August, the first Scottish Beardie to do so, no mean feat as you have to gain 26 points by the age of 18 months, 12 of which must be at championship shows 13 at open.
Sounds easy, however strict rules apply and there must be at least 3 in the class and 3 days between shows.
The award entitles you to put J.W. after the dogs name, just as champions have the affix Ch. qualifies you for life at Crufts.
To date there are only 2 Beardies in Scotland with there J.W. and a sprinkling in the rest of the UK.
In November Ben went to Earls Court at the invitation of the Kennel Club along with the other 119 dogs from all breeds to gain J.W. title in the first year of the new rules. Ben won through to the last twenty, with the overall winner an Old English Sheepdog - but what the heck we were there!!
Other '98 news Cassie had her second litter of 5 pups in January, a nerve racking time, not only was Cassie having her pups in the back sitting room - but out front the high tide with 30 foot waves was ending about 3 feet from the front door - sandbags at the ready!
Not forgetting Bob who completed another Munro.
1999
Cassie is proud of clan:- Dexter, Slanjavah Brigh na Breacau, Molly, Slanjavah Bana Chiobar and Brig Slanjavah Brig Na Dudh have all qualified for Crufts 2000. Well done to pups and owners for keeping the flag flying high.
Ben will join his brothers and sisters at Crufts. He was top Junior for Bearded Collie Club of Scotland & Bearded Collie Club Scottish Branch and top Special Yearling for Bearded Collie Club of Scotland in '99. He has many firsts and Best of Breeds under his paws, and plans to do his first Munro in the spring.
Meanwhile Bob has earned the title "Munro Bagger". He has 4 Munro's under his paws, including the 2nd highest mountain in the British Isles, whilst still being in the cards at shows.
Keep visiting us for regular updates of how the dogs are doing will update with spectacular results.

The new millennium has started well for Slanjavah Beardies.

All this while
joining his “brother” Bob on Munro expeditions.
Bob has had a
wonderful year both in and out of the show ring, always on the cards, whilst
being his “human dad’s” faithful companion on the hills, Munros and in the
fells, of the UK and Ireland. Bob is every human’s friend and just loves
living, as well as his daily “cuddles” on your knee!!!
Cassie has
proved she can match the “boys”, as she too has completed Munros her first
at the age of six and half!! She took the lead up the Merrick 2,789 feet high,
not quite a Munro, during a thunderstorm, and is always guaranteed to find us
the way back!! and
She won Brood
bitch of the Year for the Scottish Branch.
All our
Beardies joined us on sponsored 20-mile walk part, of a tri-a-thon to raise
money for beardie rescue in Scotland. £268 was raised!!
